Personal Statement: |
Over the last several years, my life has been academic and career driven. I recently graduated with a degree in Hospitality Events Management from the University of Nevada Las Vegas, and have just returned to my birth place, Denver Colorado to complete the Starkey Household Management training. One of my goals in life is to learn something new every day; I want to be constantly bettering myself through education in any sense. I also think personal kindness is one of the greatest gifts we have to give, and I offer mine readily. Growing up I developed a very strong work ethic. Both of my parents were very successful in their careers, starting out from humble beginnings, and getting to where they were by working hard and never giving up. My family was also very concerned with honesty. To this day it is still one of my most important morals. It has been said that integrity is, “what you do when no one is looking,” I try always to do the same thing no matter who is around. I believe this is also part of where my service heart stems from. My parents were raised in New York and moved to Colorado before I was born, I have one sister who is younger than me. My family is very important to me and we get still have dinner and talk when we are all on the front range together. My father attended the University of Denver here in Colorado to become a Patent Attorney, and my mother worked into my childhood as a nurse at St. Joseph’s hospital in Downtown Denver. After my mother retired to raise my sister and I they bought a farm, and that is where I learned about animals, and the value of hard work. In this day and age I am grateful to have grown up in a rural area and all of the incredible opportunities I’ve been given. After I graduated High School I moved to the Boulder and Denver areas to continue my education and worked jobs in the hospitality field. After a while I decided to transfer to the University of Nevada, to pursue my degree in Hospitality and Events Management. While in Vegas, I worked for several fine dining restaurants. I was also the assistant to the Director of Catering and Events for two major restaurants on the Las Vegas Strip, and have managed the Events for six restaurants (at one time) in the Las Vegas area. I greatly enjoyed my time with the Red Cross communications department, where I helped plan charity events, as well as screen applicants for job placement. I also loved my time at UNLV, especially the great diversity of students I encountered who all came from varying backgrounds and was always eager to elect me leader of the group because I was able to communicate with and appreciate everyone. My top three standards are Entertainment, Administration, and Culinary. I have a great love for culinary, and spent much of my time in restaurants learning from the Chefs, I also took Culinary classes at the University of Nevada Culinary school, and I possess a great knowledge of fine wines and foods. Growing up my mother always included me in meal planning and I learned from a young age to appreciate a fine pasta sauce with homemade spaghetti. I still love to host parties and enjoy preparing food and décor for any event. I enjoy working in environments that are more laid back, but still maintain structure. I feel that I am capable of adapting to many different environments. I am casual in my demeanor but can be very protocol centered during formal events. I like professional relationships and professional boundaries with flexible duties depending on everyday needs and feel I would do well with smart, active principals who want a smart active Household Manager. |
